The Winneshiek County Convention & Visitors Bureau is looking for volunteers to help staff its booth at the Iowa State Fair.
Last year 40 volunteers worked at the State Fair booth. Additional volunteers are being sought to help represent Winneshiek County this year. As an incentive package, volunteers will receive free tickets into the fair plus one night's free lodging.
"Our booth will be located in the Varied Industries Building, which attracts more than 500,000 fairgoers each year," said CVB Director Brenda Balk. "The fair is just one of the many ways the CVB entices new visitors to come to our area."
Volunteers must be familiar with Winneshiek County and have general knowledge of local businesses and attractions. Each shift requires two people; volunteers typically work with a spouse, friend, family member, or co-worker. A short training session will be held early August to give volunteers a better idea for what to expect at the fair booth.
Available shifts include:
Thursday, August 12th from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 14th from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Sunday, August 15th from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
