Summer is a slightly slower time of the year for most hospitals.
Sure enough, Winneshiek Medical Center is reporting an operating loss for the month of May. The hospital had net revenues of $3,253,033 in May, but had $3,536,278 in operating expenses. That left it with a $229,460 loss for the month.
However, the hospital's financial picture is still strong. Winneshiek Medical Center has had over $38 million in net patient service revenues in the first 11 months of the 2009-2010 fiscal year and an operating gain of $1,037,110 during that time period.
