Glenn Johnson, M.D., orthopedic surgeon with Decorah Clinic Physicians Mayo Health System at Winneshiek Medical Center

Decorah Clinic at Winneshiek Medical Center has hired a new orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Glenn Johnson has been in practice for 33 years, most recently in Bemidji, Minnesota.  He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa and completed his residency with the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Johnson specializes in minimally invasive surgical hip, knee and shoulder replacements; shoulder surgery; arthroscopic (scope) surgery of the knee, ankle and shoulder; adult reconstructive surgery and fracture care for all ages.

Dr. Johnson says, "Surgery is only one of many treatment options. Many patients never need to have surgery. Many times physical therapy, medications, injections or immobilization might be all that is needed."

Dr. Johnson's approach to orthopedic care is enhanced by new technological advances in the field and available at Winneshiek Medical Center.  "It is an exciting time in the field of orthopedics.  Researchers are developing techniques and tools to treat common injuries and conditions.  With continued education in our field, orthopedic surgeons can perform more complex surgeries with greater accuracy using fewer incisions in less time.  I am pleased to be able to offer this kind of care to the region," says Johnson.
