Things are returning to normal this week at the Decorah Public Library, which was closed for three days last week when a pipe feeding a toilet tank burst, spilling water onto the library floor.
Librarian Lorraine Borowski says all the books survived the water problem in good shape and were returned to bookshelves on Tuesday. The major damage done by the water was that it ruined the library's telephone system. Still, says Borowski, "it could have been worse."
City officials say they'll file a claim with their insurance carrier for the costs of cleaning up the damage from the burst water line.
