Decorah will host a marriage equality conference in August with representatives from Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.  "Achieving Marriage Equality in the Heartland" has been scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 13th and 14th on the Luther College campus in Decorah.  The conference is sponsored by the northeast Iowa chapter of PFLAG and co-sponsored by Luther College Upward Bound, Luther PRIDE, and Northeast Iowa Community College Gay/Straight Alliance.

The conference will bring together individuals and groups interested in preserving marriage equality in Iowa, supporting the efforts of neighboring states to extend equal marriage rights to their citizens, and exploring ways to build alliances and support for achieving marriage equality throughout the Heartland.

Keynote speakers for the conference will include Human Rights Campaign Director Harry Knox; One Iowa Board Chair Sharon Malheiro and Iowa House Majority Leader State Representative Patrick Murphy.

The conference registration fee is $50 if received by July 15th and $60 if received after July 15th.  The conference registration fee includes admission into the conference, a continental breakfast, noon meal and two snack/refreshment breaks.  Requests for additional information and registration forms may be emailed to Jean Huffey, jhuffey@acegroup.cc.
