The Cedar Dreams Inn has opened at 521 W. Water Street, across from Vesterheim Museum.  The building is the former home of Ede's Gourmet and, further in the past, the Oneota Coop. The "soft" opening was May 7 and owner Johnice Cross says she is pleased with the response thus far, and anticipates more bookings after full advertising and reservations are available online.

Cedar Dreams includes two guest rooms with queen size beds and a large common area. Cross says instead of traditional B&B fare, she will include breakfast vouchers for guests that can be redeemed at selected local dining establishments.

Many aspects of the inn confirm Cross's passion for environmental issues including the provision of organic linens and towels; and the avoidance of throw away materials. The renovation of the building also included the incorporation of many local and historic artifacts: doors and light fixtures from East Side School, local fossilized stone, reclaimed flooring from Bolson's Feed Mill, recycled wainscoting, and sinks from the Old Armory Building.
