The Decorah Public Library will be closed again on Wednesday in the wake of plumbing problems that flooded part of its building.
However, Librarian Lorraine Borowski says her staff is getting the better of the problem and she hopes to have the library open again at 10:00 a.m. Thursday. No books were exposed to water, just carpeting, she says, adding that the drying process is going well.
Meanwhile, the children's summer reading program, which ironically is entitled "Make a Splash," has moved its program involving magician Mike Prestby to the Decorah Covenant Church. Prestby will share his unique blend of family fun, comedy magic and audience participation in a 3:30 p.m. program Wednesday at Decorah Covenant, which is located at 115 Washington Street in Decorah.
The scheduled appearances of IPTV Kids Clubhouse host Dan Wardell on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. also have been moved to the Decorah Covenant Church.
Also, library patrons are being encouraged to keep their items until the library reopens. Borowski says fines will NOT be charged for returning books and other materials late.
Also the Toys Go 'Round Toy Lending Library will be closed for the entire week. TGR is also urging patrons to keep the items they have checked out and is promising no fines will be charged.
The RSVP Friendly Visitor program training session scheduled for the library on Wednesday has been postponed. More information will be released later.
