Several decorahnews.com readers have complained lately about earwigs getting into their houses. So Mr. Answer Person has done some research about getting rid of the pests:
For the most part, earwigs are harmless, although they can use their front pincers to pinch. Once they're inside your home during warm weather they don't reproduce.
Despite what you might have heard, earwigs don't crawl into your ear and lay eggs!
If you want to get rid of earwigs, moisten a rolled-up newspaper and leave it in a cool, damp place in your basement. In the morning you can dump the earwigs into soapy water, which will kill them.
