The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department on Friday announced that some of its deputies were involved in a high speed chase early Sunday morning, with speeds exceeding 100 miles an hour.

The Sheriff's Department says a deputy noticed a car heading west on Highway 9 from Ridgeway that appeared to have been in a recent accident, since the exhaust and rear bumper of the car were dragging on the roadway.  The deputy stopped the car, which was driven by Chase Ganske.  However, Ganske allegedly refused to leave the car when the deputy requested that.  Instead, Ganske allegedly sped off down Highway 9, finally losing control of his car at the intersection of 90th and Yankee Avenue in Howard County.

Ganske was taken into custody and charged with second offense drunk driving and with eluding a police officer.
