The Decorah community will find out by the end of July whether it has received more funding from Iowa's "Great Places" program. An application for a $300,000 grant has been submitted to the program in time for this year's funding decisions. The money would be part of the funding needed to construct the Recreational Facilities Complex on Pole Line Road, as well as Norm Smith Plaza, Central Park and new tennis courts in downtown Decorah.
Last year Decorah received funding through the Iowa Great Places Program, learning of the state grant six weeks after filing its application. Great Places Program officials say they expect the same timing to hold true this year.
