Update of Decorah's comprehensive plan is almost complete

The Decorah Planning and Zoning Commission is just about nearing completion of its work on an update to the city's Comprehensive Plan--a process that has taken nearly two years so far.

The Planning & Zoning Commission worked on the document for another two hours Monday night.  City Administrator Jerry Freund says it's likely the commission will put the final touches on a draft of the Comprehensive Plan at its July meeting--and then ask for public comment.

City council members are expected to get the draft copy in August, with public hearings on the plan starting shortly after.
