The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department has released the results of its Special Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) from May 24th through June 6th.
Deputies say the enforcement wave resulted in 58 additional traffic citations and warnings, including one drunk driving arrest, the investigation of 12 vehicle accidents and seven cases of motorist assistance.
A survey conducted before the STEP began showed 95 percent of vehicle occupants were using their seatbelts. That figure did not change after the STEP finished.
