Winneshiek County Board Chairman Dean Darling defeated in Republican primary

Winneshiek County Board Chairman Dean Darling has lost his bid for another term.  Challenge Lonnie Pierce defeated Darling by 12 votes out of 402 votes cast in the Republican primary on Tuesday.  Pierce had 207 votes, Darling had 195.  Pierce will now run in the general election in November.

In the three-way race for the Republican nomination for governor former Governor Terry Branstad lead over businessman Bob Vander Plaats, with State Rep. Rod Roberts far behind.  In the three way Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate Roxanne Conlin had a huge lead over Tom Fiegen and Bob Krause.
