Winners of second annual "Best of the Bluffs" contest named

The Winneshiek County Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced the winners of the 2nd Annual "Best of the Bluffs Competition."  The on-line survey was conducted during May, with hundreds of entries being submitted.

The category winners were:

--Best Coffee, Java John's Mocha
--Best Business Curb Appeal, Agora Arts
--Best Campsite, Pulpit Rock
--Best Date Night Restaurant, Rubaiyat
--Best Unique Gift Idea, StoryPeople artwork
--Best Breakfast Item, Rubaiyat
--Best Family Outing, Biking the new Trout Run Trail
--Best Burger or Sandwich, "The Burger" at Rubaiyat
--Best Happy Hour Location, Rubaiyat
--Best Picnic Spot, Phelps Park
--Best Hotel, Motel, B&B, Cabin or Guesthouse, Hotel Winneshiek
--Best Ice Cream, Whippy Dip's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Tornado
--Best Pizza, It's a tie!! Mabe's Regular AND Around the Garden
--Best Fishing Hole, Decorah Fish Hatchery
--Best Canoe, Kayak or Tube Outfitter, River & Trail Outfitters

"Our winners should proudly tout this recognition," said Tourism Director Brenda Balk. "It's a good thing to be acknowledged for having such a positive reputation with our visitors and locals. I hope they all keep up the great work."

Gold medals will be presented to winners later this month. Kari Noltner of Eau Claire, Wisconsin won the $100 Chamber Dollar drawing for her participation in the survey.
