Flower baskets making annual appearance downtown

Crews from the Decorah City Street Department put up the town's hanging flower baskets on Thursday.

This is the 16th year for the flower basket program, which is funded by the Downtown Decorah Betterment Association and the downtown Self-Supporting Municipal Improvement District.

There are 208 flower baskets this year.  All the flowers are grown by Decorah Greenhouse.  Volunteers from the DDBA have spent time this week getting the flower baskets ready to be put out.  Now that the flower baskets are up, three teenagers will water the baskets in the morning, while a rotating team of volunteers will do the watering at night.
