Details have been released of the schedule for the Luther college 2010-2011 Center Stage Series. Ten performances will be held at the Center for Faith and Life stage from September 11th, 2010 through April 2nd, 2011.
Subscription packages for Center Stage Series events are now on sale through August 27th at the Luther College Box Office.
The Center Stage Series will start Saturday, September 11th, with "Danzón!" a sizzling and sensual night combining Chicago's talented Luna Negra Dance Theatre and the innovative Turtle Island Quartet.
The American Brass Quintet will perform Friday, September 24th.
"Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience" on Thursday, October 5th, will include Simien's soulful voice, fiery accordion and musical washboard.
"The Diary of Anne Frank," a Tony-award-winning play, will be performed Friday, October 22nd.
Dr. Professor Tomas Kubinek joins Maestro Timothy Hankewich and the 83-piece Orchestra Iowa on Saturday, November 5th, in one of four world premiere tour performances of an entertaining new symphonic work.
On Thursday, November 11th, jazz pianist Kenny Barron will bring his trio and special guest tenor sax player David Sanchez to the Luther CFL.
The Center Stage Series will resume Friday, February 11th, when folksinger Carrie Newcomer performs songs with a country bluegrass edge.
A program of the music of Duke Ellington will be presented by six-time Grammy nominee Nnenna Freelon on Thursday, February 17th.
The premier all-male a cappella ensemble Cantus will perform Friday, March 11th.
The Center Stage series will end with a performance of "Church Basement Ladies--A Second Helping" on Saturday, April 2nd.
