Gas prices dipping just before Memorial Day

You might want to fill your tank this week to take advantage of some surprising gasoline prices.

Normally the cost of gasoline goes up during the summertime, when traffic is the highest.  But the price of a gallon of gasoline in Decorah now has fallen to $2.49.  AAA's latest survey finds gas prices in Iowa averaging $2.79 a gallon.  However, even though Decorah gasoline prices are lower than elsewhere in the state, they're still higher than last year at this time, when a gallon of gas cost $2.28.

AAA Minnesota/Iowa's Gail Weinholzer predicts a 5.5 percent increase for Memorial Day travel for this year over last.  Overall, AAA predicts 32.1 million travelers across the country during the Memorial Day weekend.
