Three Decorah HS students perform at All-State Jazz concert

When the Iowa All State Jazz Band performed in concert at the Downtown Marriott in Des Moines last Thursday, three of its 20 members were from Decorah High School.  

Juniors Michael Eastwood on bass and Gabe Smith on piano and sophomore Colin Zidlicky on trombone were selected to the All State Jazz Band through a taped audition process in February.  

"For us to get three kids selected to be in a band of 20 is really an incredible honor," said DHS Jazz Band Director Matt Cody.  "I was very excited that these kids got the opportunity to work with fellow All Staters and a great guest director, Sharrie Maricle, from New York," said Cody.
