Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty has appointed Christine Long of Owatonna to fill a judicial vacancy.  Longearned her bachelor of arts degree cum laude from Luther College in 1988 and her juris doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1991.

After graduating from law school, Long was an associate attorney and partner in the Owatonna law firm of Ruth, Schreiner and Long.  She became an assistant county attorney in Steele County at the same time.  When the Steele County Assistant County Attorney job became a full-time position in 1999, she left the Owatonna law firm.

In making the appointment, Pawlenty said, ""Christine brings a wealth of experience in civil as well as criminal law.  In addition to her legal skills and reputation for professionalism, she is an active member of the community and relates well to people."
