People for Animal Welfare representative Darrell Henning says his group has done a "credible job" controlling the population of stray dogs in Winneshiek County. But Henning admits when it comes to stray cats, the problem has been "overwhelming."
Monday night Henning and other PAW representatives appeared before the Decorah city council to ask the city for financial help in paying to spay or neuter stray cats.
Henning says PAW "has been doing what we can," but it hasn't been enough. He told city council members even $200 a month would help control the population of feral cats.
The city council has referred the issue to a June 7th meeting of the Public Safety Committee.
