A sweet way to celebrate National Nursing Home Week

It was a big responsibility, but Father Daniel Kepler wasn't complaining about the job of picking the Best Dessert at Aase Haugen Home on Thursday.  A variety of sweet concoctions were arranged in front of him and he dug into them with relish—or, actually, with rhubarb, which he says is one of his favorites.

When it was over, Kepler pronounced the Rhubarb Crunch the winner of the contest.  The dessert was made by Irene Holthaus and several other Aase Haugen Home residents.

The Best Dessert Contest was part of Aase Haugen Home's observance of National Nursing Home Week and National Older Americans Month.
