Haiti fundraiser targets sewing items

Posted: Thu, May 13, 2010 5:12 PM

Three Luther college students are asking the Decorah community for donations to help with a project in Haiti.  Collection boxes have been set out at Fareway, Quillin's and the Oneota Co-op for donations of sewing items such as zippers, needles, thread, buttons, scissors, key rings and Dorito bags.  The items will be taken to Haiti in August by the three Luther students, who are working with a business that turns garbage into handbags and other items, reducing waste and creating jobs in the poor communities in Haiti.
