Ft. Atkinson man sentenced on charges of threatening his wife

A Fort Atkinson man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on weapons charges that grew out of his alleged threats against his estranged wife.

62-year-old Robert Neuzil pleaded guilty last September two counts of possessing a short-barreled rifle and one count of possessing a smooth bore pistol.  U.S. District Court Chief Judge Linda Reade sentenced Neuzil on Tuesday.

Winneshiek County deputies arrested Neuzil last year after his estranged wife called, saying he had threatened to kill her.  Sheriff's deputies stopped Neuzil's car and found a loaded handgun and several rifles.  They then searched his home and found numerous firearms and several pipe bombs.
