Sheriff's Department completes alcohol law enforcement drive

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department says it used a state grant to crack down on alcohol violations during April.

Money from the Governor's Traffic Safety Bureayu was used to add traffic enforcement that resulted in 132 additional traffic citations and warnings.  Sheriff's deputies wrote five drunk driving citations, six citations for underaged drinking and seven citations for open containers of alcohol.

The alcohol enforcement program ran from April 1st through April 30th.
