The Winneshiek County Convention & Visitors Bureau is encouraging local residents to take the time to experience the area like a visitor during May Tourism Month. "People need to realize that our museums, attractions, and recreational opportunities are changing all the time," said WCCVB Director. Brenda Balk.
She has several suggestions, all of which are free: Walking, biking or rollerblading the new Trout Run Trail; floating down the Upper Iowa River; touring Vesterheim Museum on free admission Thursdays; seeing the eagle's nest near the Trout Hatchery; and taking a self-guided stroll through the gardens at Seed Savers.
"Not only will you enjoy your time exploring, but you will probably stumble on things your family or friends will like too," said Balk.
