Decorah firm wins contract for construction of new dam

JB Holland Construction of Decorah is the apparent low bidder on a project to build a dam that will create Lost Grove Lake in Scott County.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources had estimated the cost of the project at $5.5 million.  JB Holland submitted a bid of $4.15 million for the project.

Holland's bid will be submitted to the Natural Resources Commission for approval May 13th.   If their bid is approved, JB Holland could begin construction in June.  The project would be concluded by the end of 2011.

Construction of the dam will lead to the creation of a 350-acre lake.  The entire project is expected to cost $7.15 million.  The second phase of the project--which is separate from Holland's bid for construction of the dam--will include boat ramps, parking lots and restrooms.
