Six Luther College students, including three from Northeast Iowa,  have each received a $1,000 scholarship for the 2010-11 academic year at Luther.

Recipients of the Steven Mark Anderson Scholarship are Adam Kruse of Decorah, Kelsey Kittleson of St. Ansgar, Jenna Pollock of Volga, Courtney Borowicz of Bloomington, Minnesota, Samantha Murry of Mosinee, Wisconsin and Madeline Pojar of St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Anderson Scholarship benefits Luther College students involved in Student Support Services, a federally-funded TRIO program supporting student success. The scholarship was established in 2001 by Lloyd and Kathy Anderson of Ames, in memory of their son, Pastor Steven Mark Anderson, who graduated from Luther College in 1985.

Kruse is a Luther junior and is majoring in anthropology.  He is involved with Backyard Wilderness Pursuits and has organized cancer benefit events and regional running events, volunteered as a translator for the local police department and food pantry, worked in refugee integration, and is in the process of developing a non-governmental organization in Argentina.  He is earning his pilot's license and plans to participate in the National Outdoor Leadership School in India next fall.
