Luther College alumnus honored in National Geographic photo contest

2008 Luther College graduate Katy Fiedler has been selected as the runner-up in the 'Best Shot' photo contest sponsored by glimpse.org and the National Geographic Society.  Her photo was one of 31 photos honored by National Geographic out of over 1,300 photos received.

Fiedler majored in elementary education and Spanish while at Luther and also had many opportunities to travel.  "I've been blessed with some incredible glimpses of life, views of the world which have changed my worldview," Fiedler said.

Fielder is currently working as an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow, splitting time between the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Funky Minds Non-profit, and East Union Elementary. She is also an assistant cross-country coach and Nordic skiing coach at her alma mater, Edina High School.
