The drinking fountains at Carrie Lee Elementary School will be turned back on Tuesday after the source of a water contamination has been found.
The school has been having problems with its water quality since last November. The water was found to have excessive sediment and discoloration. School officials shut down the water fountains and brought in drinking water from the outside.
Now results of tests done by the State of Iowa Hygienic Lab showed the problem originated in the hot water heater at the school. The same tests showed no problem with the cold water system, so that allows school officials to turn back on the drinking fountains.
