What can you say about dioramas made with PeepsŪ brand marshmallow candies, except that they were "Peeptacular." The Luther College Book Shop on Thursday afternoon announced the winners of its third annual Peep-O-Rama contest. The book shop has accepted entries of dioramas created using Peeps marshmallow candies, plus props and artwork. There were lots of choices. "Spring Break with my Peeps" had a beach theme. "The Signing of the Declaration of Indepeepence" had a history theme. "Little Bo Peep"--well, you get the idea.
Visitors to the Luther Book Shop were able to cast their vote for their favorite diorama. The "Peeper Pan" diorama took third place. A Paideia-themed diorama was second. The clear favorite was an elaborate diorama by three Luther students that included flowing water and fighting Peeps as part of the take-off on the movie "300." Erin Voelschow, Addison Choi and Josiah Collins said they were discussing a volcano theme, when one of the group came up with the idea of using an aquarium pump to add a water feature.
The three were presented prizes for their winning entry, including a crystal Peep statue.
