Democratic Campaign Committee names Latham to

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, an organization supporting Democratic candidates for Congress, has named Iowa Republican Congressman Tom Latham to its "Hypocrisy Hall of Fame."  The group says Latham voted against the 2009 Omnibus Appropriations bill but then issued three press releases congratulating himself for securing funds for projects at home.

A news release issued March 2nd touted "$95,000 in funding secured by Iowa Congressman Tom Latham" for telemedicine technology for the Newborn Monitoring Initiative spearheaded by Gunderson Lutheran Health System and the Gunderson Clinic in Decorah.

Another news released said "Congressman Latham secured funding for several key community college projects in an omnibus appropriations bill approved by the House."  The news release listed six appropriations to Iowa community colleges totaling over $3 million.

A third news release discussed how Latham had "secured $1.4 million in federal funds for an Iowa based revolutionary wind energy production plant project that explores new methods of storing wind energy."
