Luther College Book Shop and Union Services Director Jim Haemker has won an industry recognition. Haemker, a Luther alumni, has been working at Luther College 38 years.
The National Association of College Stores has presented Haemker with the NACS Foundation Distinguished Service Award. As former president of the NACS Foundation and a NACS trustee, Haemker has contributed to the industry by serving on the boards of three associations, 27 committees and four task forces, totaling 24 years of service. In each of these roles, he has shared his knowledge to help move projects forward and improve the industry, its associations and college stores.
"Jim is the perfect choice for this award," said NACS Foundation immediate past president Mark Palmore. "He has been involved with the foundation since its beginning in 1982 and has shown a passion for the college store industry that is inspiring to all who know him."
The NACS Foundation Distinguished Service Award was introduced in 2002 and is the foundation's highest honor, recognizing devotion, service and visionary leadership to the NACS Foundation.
