Former Freeport man killed in construction accident

A former Freeport man was killed Friday after a wall collapsed at a construction site in Blairsburg, Iowa.

57-year-old David Thompson of Clarion was killed shortly after noon Friday when a wind gust blew over a cement block wall at a construction site where where an addition is being built to house pre-kindergarten though fifth grades.

A line of thunderstorms with strong wind gusts was moving through Iowa at the time of the collapse.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the accident.
