March was warmer, dryer than normal in Decorah

Temperatures in Decorah during March were 7.6 degrees warmer than average. Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says 28 out of the 31 days in March had above-average maximum temperatures. In the 115 years for which records have been kept, just 6 Marches were warmer, while 108 Marches were cooler.

March was also dry in Decorah. There was a total of just 0.79 inches of precipitation in March--1.09 inches less than average. Of the 117 Marches for which precipitation figures have been kept 98 Marches were wetter, 17 Marches were drier and one was the same. Despite the dry March, Decorah has a precipitation surplus of 2.78 inches over the last 12 months.
