The National Weather Service Office in La Crosse says March of 2010 was the first time in the 121 years that weather records have been kept that La Crosse and Rochester have not had any measurable snowfall.
The Decorah Water Department--which is the official Decorah recording station for the National Weather Service Office--says a trace of snow fell in Decorah on March 19th, but not a measurable amount. Snowfall totals have been kept in Decorah since 1951. March of 2010 is the first March since then without snowfall. In March of 1959 in Decorah, 29 inches of snowfall was recorded.
Decorah had a high of 75 degrees as March ended on Wednesday, with April starting with a possible high of 79 on Thursday.
