Three incumbent county officials will have election opposition

Three Winneshiek County officials will have competition in this fall's election. County Board Chairman Dean Darling will face opposition from Lonnie Pierce in the Republican Party primary in District 1, with the winner facing Democrat Mark John Kuhn in the fall election. In District 2, incumbent John Logsdon, a Republican, will face opposition from Democrat Warren Palm this fall.

County Recorder Lavonne Bjergum, a Republican, will face opposition in November from Democrat Barbara L Ettleson. County Attorney Andy Van Der Maaten and County Treasurer Wayne Walter will be unopposed in their re-election bids.

Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. was the deadline for county candidates to file their nomination papers.
