NICC ag students do well at national contest

Students in Northeast Iowa Community College's agricultural programs have performed well in national competitions.

At the National Post-secondary Agriculture Student Conference in St. Louis Michael Eivins of Macksburg and Ethan Heitner of Fort Dodge took second place in the Ag Machinery Service Technician contest, while Bryce Hendrick of Mc Callsburg and Jon Steffens of Maynard took third place in the same contest.

Dereck Buddenberg of Castalia and Robert Quinnel of Spring Grove took 7th place in the Crop Specialist Award Program, while Kyle Wendland of Fredericksburg and Jerry Wulfekuhle of New Vienna took 10th place.

In the Dairy Specialist Award Program the four-person team of Matt Henkes of Luana; Ted McAlister of New Vienna; Adam Englert of Owensville, Indiana; and Katie Steinlage of West Union took 4th place; the four-person team of Kyle Peters of Hopkinton; Alicia Metz of Rushford, Minnesota; Kyle Mathison of Cumberland, Wisconsin; and Jeremy Nurre of Delhi took 8th place; and the four-person team of Klint Obert of Fort Branch, Indiana; Kathy Nefger of Dyersville; Jesse Schumacher of Eyota, Minnesota; and Mark Simon of Farley took 9th place.
