Luther student wins Brudos Opera Prize

A Luther College junior has been named the recipient of the 2010-11 Alan R. and Sally J. Brudos Prize for Opera Performance at Luther College.

Aliyah Richling, the daughter of David and Paulette Richling of Stoddard, Wisconsin, is a music major at Luther. She is a 2007 graduate of La Crosse Central High School.

The prize includes a $5,000 award and the chance to present a recital during the next academic year.

Presented annually to a Luther College senior, the Brudos Prize was established by Alan and Sally Brudos to support students of outstanding ability and achievement who are preparing for careers in opera performance.

The winner is chosen by a panel of Luther voice faculty members. Selection is based on promise and quality of vocal performance.
