Midwest Living Magazine has named Decorah one of "The 100 Best Midwest Small-Town Getaways."
Each spring the magazine publishes a "Best of the Midwest" edition. The 224-page travel guide is now on sale at bookstores and other major retailers, with a cover price of $7.95.
Says the magazine, "Tucked in the bluffs of northeast Iowa, charming small-town Decorah shares its Scandinavian heritage every day in quaint downtown shops and at history-rich spots like Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum. For the full-blown cultural experience, visit during Nordic Fest, an annual summer celebration of traditional food, crafts and entertainment."
Midwest Living also gives special mention to Seed Savers Exchange, the Decorah Fish Hatchery, Vesterheim, Mc Caffrey's Dolce Vita, Rubaiyat, Oneota Co-op and B&B on Broadway.
"This is an incredible PR opportunity for our area," said Winneshiek County Convention & Visitors Bureau Director Brenda Balk. "Recognitions like this definitely help put us on the radar of potential visitors."
