Spring is a good time of the year to clean out your medicine cabinet along with doing all those other spring cleaning chores.
You can rid of any old, expired or unidentifiable prescription medications and any expired over-the-counter medicines that you may have. Many medicines are considered hazardous waste and have special disposal guidelines.
Medicap and Donlon Pharmacies in Decorah are now participating in the "TakeAway" medication disposal program. The pharmacies have a marked container that can accept unused or expired prescription or over-the-counter medicines, including pills, tablets, capsules, ointments, creams, lotions, powders, inhalers, nebulizer solutions, liquid medicines less than 4 ounces, solutions and suspensions. Liquids must be wrapped in a paper towel and placed in a sealed plastic bag before being placed in a TakeAway container.
Please contact Medicap or Donlon Pharmacies with any questions.
