Parents of children at NICC Calmar Child Care Center voice their concerns

The Child Development Center at the Northeast Iowa community College's Calmar campus--as well as the center at NICC Peosta--have proposed a rate increase to cover their costs.

NICC Board members heard Monday from concerned parents about the rate increase. NICC President Penny Wills stated the school does not have any plans to close either center. But she also noted, "We can no longer subsidize the centers at over $350,000 annually."

A task force has been appointed to study the situation. Wills has asked the group for a recommendation by March 31st.
