Several Decorah High School FFA students have earned the right to advance to the Northeast District FFA Leadership Career Development Event, based on their performances at Saturday's Northwest Sub-District Leadership Career Development Event at the Valley of Elgin High School.
24 Decorah High School FFA members competed in 9 different areas. Carl Hanson, Molly O'Regan and Dacia Dykstra advanced in the Program of Activities category; Chase Christopher advanced in Agricultural Sales; Sarah Brandt advanced in Agricultural Broadcasting; Kilah Memesath, Andrew Luzum, Kaitlyn Otteson, Jordan Tietz and Colin Zidlicky advanced in Parliamentary Procedure; Shelby Cornelius advanced in Public Speaking;
Dustin Smith, Brian O'Regan, Danielle Holstad, Brittany Nelson, Kelsey Hovden, Hannah Opat and Eric Smorstad advanced in Conduct of Meetings; and McKinleigh McCabe advanced in Creed Speaking.
Dustin Bigler, Anthony Henry and Adam Sacquitne also took top three honors in the chapter FFA Quiz contest.
Competing but not advancing were Montana Mc Cabe in Extemporaneous Speaking and Casey Christen in Job Interview.
The Decorah FFA and the Oelwein FFA tied with 7 contests advancing each, followed by Sumner-Fredricksburg with 3, and one each for North Fayette and Valley of Elgin.
The Northeast District FFA Leadership CDE which will be held at Crestwood High School on Saturday, March 13th.
