Local collection of items for Haiti extended through the end of the month

Decorah Covenant Church has decided to extend until February 28th its role as the local collecting site for "Helping Hands for Haiti," a campaign to raise dry formula, milk, wet ones and diapers for Ruuska Village, a Christian orphanage located 7 miles from Port-au-Prince.

The church has already accepted numerous donations of powdered formula, dry milk, diapers and wet-wipes. However, it has learned that the semi carrying donations towards Haiti will not be arriving in Iowa until the first of March, so it has decided to continue accepting donations.

The project is the brainchild of former Decorah resident Kim Grinna, now living in the Des Moines area. Decorah resident Andrea Carlson joined with Grinna to expand the project beyond Des Moines to include Decorah.

For more information, please contact Andrea Carlson (382-1409) or Kim Grinna (641-332-2396).
