City officials say: shovel your corner sidewalks all the way to the street

City of Decorah officials say they're getting good cooperation, for the most part, from homeowners in shoveling sidewalks this winter.

But city officials do have one gripe: corner sidewalks that aren't shoveled all the way to the street. City council member Steve Matter noted Monday night people "shouldn't have to climb over two or three feet of snow to get to the sidewalk."

Fire department officials earlier in the winter also issued a plea to property owners--please shovel fire hydrants out of any snow drifts.
