Decorah firefighters called out for house fire

The Decorah Fire Department was called out around 4:30 p.m. Monday to 2766 Iawinn Road. When firefighters arrived at the home, they found a car on fire and the garage it was parked inside fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the garage, roof and one room of the house. Smoke damage was throughout the house. 24 firefighters spent three hours at the home.

The Decorah Fire Department was assisted by the Winneshiek County Sheriffs Department, Winneshiek County Paramedic Service, Bills Auto Repair and Winneshiek County Secondary Roads.
