The seven members of the Decorah City Council, meeting as the Budget and Finance Committee, spent a long evening Wednesday working on figures for the city's 2010-2011 budget.

The final document will be presented to the public at a hearing March 1st during the city council meeting. It will call for a total of $11 million plus in spending for next year.

The budget figures approved by city council members would result in a tax rate for city government purposes of $12.54 per $1,000 of assessed valuation. That represents a 12 cents per $1,000 increase from this year's city levy rate of $12.42 per $1,000 of assessed valuation
