Support Daffodil Days, local American Cancer Society volunteers say

Posted: Wed, Feb 10, 2010 5:00 PM

Winneshiek County volunteers of the American Cancer Society have declared March 15th through March 19th as "Daffodil Week" and March 21st as "Daffodil Sunday."

Ordering daffodils is a great way for individuals and corporations to show appreciation to employees, customers, clients and friends. We would like to extend the opportunity to place an order for the "Flower of Hope" and at the same time help support the American Cancer Society's mission of cancer research, education, advocacy and patient services.

As the first flower of spring, the daffodil symbolizes the living symbol of hope in the battle to fight cancer and also represents the hope of a world free of cancer. Daffodil Days is about sharing hope for a world with less cancer and more birthdays, where cancer never steals another year from anyone's life. During January and February the American Cancer Society volunteers will be taking donations for the fresh spring flowers. Weather permitting; flowers will be delivered on March 16th.

Please join us in the fight against cancer and in making this year's Daffodil Days a big success. Let's turn Winneshiek County "yellow" by having daffodils in every home, church and business.

Daffodil order forms can be picked up at Viking State Bank in downtown Decorah.
