Will VA Outpatient Clinic be located near Winneshiek Medical Center?

Winneshiek County supervisors say they're in favor of locating a VA Outpatient Clinic on property near Winneshiek Medical Center.

The supervisors on Monday afternoon gave their blessings to leasing property between the Meehan and Schwartz building and the NE Iowa Behavioral Health parking lot. While details of such a lease at still in the talking stages, supervisors Bill Ibanez called it "a great idea."

The Veterans Administration is asking for official proposals from organizations that can rent the VA a 7,000 to 8,500 square foot building. The VA has set an application deadline of February 17th, with a decision expected in April and a target date of October to open the clinic.
