Winneshiek Medical Center officials may soon be issuing a public statement about the reasons the hospital is not a preferred provider for people who are covered by the Gundersen Lutheran Health Care Plan. The action comes after a member of the public wrote a letter to members of the board about the health insurance issue.
The lack of an agreement between the hospital and the clinic affects around 300 Winneshiek County residents who are Kwik Star employees or Gundersen Clinic employees. Hospital board president Ben Wyatt hopes the public statement will give the hospital a chance to tell its side of the story. Said Wyatt, "The perception among the public is that we're the ones blocking this health care insurance in our county."
