Beard: Governor's budget proposal is OK

Iowa Governor Chet Culver on Wednesday submitted a $5.6 billion dollar proposed budget to the state legislature.

Decorah State Representative John Beard says there doesn't seem to be anything in the budget that is too outrageous, but now the work of reviewing all the items begins.

Beard is the vice chair of the Assembly's State Government Committee, which will review the budget proposal. He says "a lot of good ideas" have already been suggested on ways to spend state tax dollars more efficiently. Beard says his committee now must do a final sorting through of all the suggestions to decide which ones should be accepted and which ones should not.
